The God of Rock and Roll

December 30, 2013

The heart was designed with a desire for music intended for worshipping the one true God, The Rock of Ages (1 Corinthians 10:4). Throughout the book of Psalms we are exhorted:

Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
    sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless His name;
    tell of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
    His marvelous works among all the peoples! – Psalm 96:1-3

The God of Rock and Roll is the prince of the power of the air. The Bible describes this prince as “the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1-3). “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4). The only song that will survive the grave is Heaven’s song. The Apostle John wrote: “And I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Blessed indeed,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!'” (Revelation 14:13).
