Summary

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him” (John 1:9-10). Jesus is the True Light.  At the Cross of Jesus Christ, we first see the Light.  The Cross is the divine exchange of guilt for grace where we find peace with God in light of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Bearing witness to the Light, the Apostle John wrote: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:4). Jesus is the Lamp unto our feet and the Light unto our path (Psalm 119:150). In our darkest hour, He is the God of all comfort. The Apostle Paul wrote: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
