Summary

The Scripture says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:3). Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ is the cure for sin that would beset the people of God. The man or woman who believes the Word of God by faith is reckoned righteous before God just as Abraham believed and was counted righteous. In Jesus, we are found NOT guilty and are justified by faith for the Day of Judgment. “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:2). Abraham’s journey one night began with darkness and fear, but ended with a vision full of the light of Christ – the Flaming Torch – on the day the LORD made covenant with him (Genesis 15:17-18). If anyone be in Christ, there is no cause for fear. “For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love” since perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
