Summary

In the book of Malachi, the LORD spoke through His servant the prophet saying: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome Day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction. But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings” (Malachi 4:2, 5). Elijah has come, and the end is near! God’s plan of redemption was to reach the world through family by grace through faith in the finished work of His Son, Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8). God’s love demonstrates that a father’s love is greater than a son’s disobedience. The book of Malachi is a call to remember. In the Day of Judgment, God will raise up all those who remembered to call upon the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13). Hence, the Word of the LORD declares:

“The sun shall be turned to darkness
      and the moon to blood,
before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

 – Acts 2:20-21, ESV
